February needs you to shine. These days under the grey are getting a little brighter all the time, but we all need to beckon the light, to reach toward it. Radiance can be reflected or self-sourced, glowing ember or bobbing flashlight. A dash of bright lipstick, extra candles, every window ringed by twinkly lights. Or just this kid’s eyes, sparkling with the promise of snow, or or that man’s smile, coming in the door at the end of the day, asking, “what smells so good?” It’s the light from the oven window, helping the bread to rise in a cold kitchen, or washed across your page, up late for one more chapter, and one more after that. Radiance is that rising in the East, new mercy every morning, and the warm green pushing under this cold ground, promising that all will be made new. Arms up. Dig deep. Be radiant.
