I’ve written a lot about what we have not been doing during this season, but those spaces have made room for the good things we have been doing. There have been lots of pages turned and candles burning and quiet harp, piano and guitar music on the CD player. There was a 500 piece bird puzzle that captured the imagination, and the selective fingers, of my elder son. We’ve been baking and eating our usual soft ginger cookies, and wrapping and giving brown sugar and ginger spice cakes. We celebrated the last day of school before winter break with a feast, candles above on the chandelier and on the Advent wreath. Wool socks and hot chocolate, gas logs and biscuits for breakfast.
And the riches of time, moments and hours piled up together, as cozy to dive into as a plump made up bed.
